Education Through Literacy
Building a Strong Foundation for Success
“We are committed to ensuring that all of our scholars, particularly black boys, are proficient readers and writers by the end of second grade. By pouring into black boys, and all of our scholars, early in their educational experience we are building a foundation for success and investing in the future of our community.”
–Mr. Khalid Oluewu, Principal

Setting an Expectation
We believe in the power of quality education. That’s why we set high expectations for our scholars from the very beginning. With small class sizes, our scholars get the individualized attention they need to succeed. Day one of their education is just the start of their journey with us. With our support, they are capable of meeting and exceeding any challenge we place before them.
Leading Through Caring
We are cultivating a service and leadership mindset through caring. We offer monthly service projects that help our scholars develop teamwork and leadership skills while learning they can make an impact in the world by caring for each other, their neighborhood, and their community.
We Start With Listening
We know that sometimes life can be tough and people need someone to talk to. That's why it is important to us that our scholars, parents, and staff always have someone to listen to them. we know that when people feel heard, they feel valued and understood.

It's About Respect
To create a respectful school environment, we must start with our scholars. They are the future of our country and the world, and we must instill in them a sense of respect for themselves and others. By modeling respectful behavior and teaching them the importance of mutual respect, we can set them on the path to success in school and life.
Every Day is a New Day
We encourage our scholars to recognize and learn from their mistakes. We want them to understand it is ok to make a mistake. So if you made a mistake yesterday, use it as a learning opportunity and start today fresh because we believe everyday is a new beginning.

“I love our scholars! Every day, they return to learn from their mistakes and grow into better people- it’s a new beginning each day!”
